Carolina Bianchi’s The Power of Sluts (Cadela Força) trilogy is a quest for resurrection; its first part, A Noiva e o Boa Noite Cinderela, takes us to the gates of hell. Surrounded by her collective, Cara de Cavalo, the Brazilian director and author bears wild-eyed testimony to the realities of rape and femicide. How to revive the victims’ realities, exhume the layers of past, current, repressed and suspended temporalities? How to remember? To articulate the lived and the felt? To get as close as possible to this state of confusion, the performer ingests Boa Noite Cinderela (the Brazilian name for the date-rape drug) on stage and fights against impending sleep and unconsciousness as she utters to those who have suffered the worst possible fates the incandescent words of their redemption.
